Numerous law enforcement agencies and first responders were called to Pine Ridge Apartments at 203 Iron Belt Road Thursday morning for a suspect who barricaded himself in an apartment.

The U.S. Marshal Service attempted to serve a warrant to a suspected sex offender in apartment 204.

The U.S. Marshal Service called the Bartow County Sheriff’s Office when the suspect said he had a bomb.

The building was evacuated.

In an attempt to escape, the suspect broke out windows and tore through sheet rock to gain access to other apartments.

Major Mark Mayton with the Bartow County Sheriff’s Office said the suspect did not have a bomb, and he was in the apartment alone.

Law enforcement officials were able to take this suspect into custody with no injuries reported.
