Floyd County Commission meets Tuesday

The Floyd County Commission is expected to adopt a resolution establishing a Floyd, Polk, and Bartow County Development Authority when they meet on Tuesday.

The commission is then expected to make appointments to the authority.

The initial focus of the authority would be economic development on U.S. 411 between Rome and Cartersville, Ga. 101 between Rome and Rockmart, and U.S. 27 between Rome and Cedartown.

Floyd County has a similar partnership with Gordon County.

The Gordon-Floyd Joint Development Authority owns the Northwest Georgia Regional Industrial Park off of Highway 53 and Hermitage Road.

A resolution adopting a fee schedule for parking in the Fourth and Sixth Avenue parking decks is also on the agenda along with a change order for renovation work at AdventHealth Stadium, a bid for gymnasium flooring at Anthony Recreation Center, fence replacements at Garden Lakes and Alto Park, and the installation of synthetic turf at Alto Park.

An AIA contract with the Sizemore Group for architectural services at the Law Enforcement Center will also go to the commission for a vote.

In other actions, the commission will read proclamations for Child Abuse Prevention Month, Donate Life Month, and National Crime Victims’ Rights Week.

The county commission meeting begins at 6 p.m. at the county administration building on Fourth Avenue. During the pre-meeting caucus, which begins at 4 p.m., the commission will hear a presentation from Jennifer Jolly with the Rome Floyd Commission on Children & Youth. They will then go into an executive session to discuss property acquisition, litigation, and personnel
