Sunday evening, Gordon County Sheriff deputies were dispatched to the Millstone Subdivision in Calhoun, where a stabbing victim had arrived seeking help.
Deputies responded alongside EMS personnel, and the victim was transported by ambulance for treatment of multiple stab wounds.
According to the victim, the attack occurred while riding in a vehicle on Boone Ford Road. After the assault, the victim walked to the subdivision to get assistance.
Based on the victim’s description, deputies located the suspect walking on Boone Ford Road minutes later. He was taken into custody without incident.
Witnesses were interviewed, and investigators collected physical evidence, including the knife believed to have been used in the attack.
Detectives have charged 38-year-old Daniel Edward Woody, of a Kinman Road address in Calhoun, with Aggravated Assault and Possession of a Knife in the Commission of a Crime.
The Gordon County Sheriff’s Office has reported that the victim is expected to recover.
