Woman accused of stealing three firearms during burglary
A Lindale woman already in the Floyd County Jail has been charged with a burglary dating back to November.
According to jail records:
36-year-old Jasmine Miranda Hamilton entered a home on Alexander Avenue in Lindale and took three firearms.
She is charged with 1st-degree burglary.
Hamilton has been in jail since January after being arrested on a burglary warrant for allegedly forcing her way into a residence on Spring Circle in December where she used the utilities to the residence without the permission of the owner or the caretaker of the property.
Man accused of altering bank card receipts
A 24-year-old Rome man has been arrested on a felony warrant charging him with 2nd-degree forgery.
According to the warrant:
Thomas Drake White signed bank card receipts and altered the amounts on those receipts to get payments in return.
The incidents occurred on February 8 and February 9 at a restaurant on Shorter Avenue.
Man charged with false statements and writings
A Shannon-area man is accused of lying to police about a hit-and-run crash that occurred on Turner McCall Boulevard in Rome on January 30.
According to an arrest warrant:
21-year-old Micah Jahari Merritt made false statements about being the driver of the vehicle involved in the wreck.
It was determined that he was behind the wheel and struck another vehicle before leaving the scene.
Merritt is charged with false statements and writings, hit and run, and following too closely.
Three arrested in a drug bust in Rosemont Park
Rome-Floyd Metro Task Force officers seized methamphetamine, marijuana, smoking devices, and digital scales during the execution of a search warrant on Azalea Street on Thursday.
30-year-old Samone Rachell Johnson and 46-year-old Tiffany Deanna Bruce are charged with possession of meth, possession of less than an ounce of marijuana, and possession of drug-related objects.
43-year-old Joe Manuel Carrasco is charged with possession of meth.
Man arrested in scheme to smuggle contraband into prison
An Elberton, Georgia man was booked into the Floyd County Jail Thursday on charges of conspiracy to commit a felony, items prohibited for possession by an inmate, use of a communications facility to commit a crime, and felony possession of marijuana.
According to an arrest warrant;
34-year-old Broadarris Wentrell Mattox conspired with two inmates and one civilian to have tobacco, marijuana, rolling papers, and suspected strips delivered to a specified location to be smuggled into the Floyd County Prison.
The plan, which was arranged on the prison’s phone system, could not be completed because a prison investigator found the contraband before it could be brought into the facility.
