One person was killed in a three-vehicle crash on Highway 411 near Martin Road in Bartow County Friday.
According to the Georgia State Patrol:
A 1995 Ford F-350 was traveling west on the highway in the left turn lane, attempting to turn left onto Martin Road.
A 2008 Chevy Cobalt was traveling east on the highway in the left lane, approaching Martin Road.
A 2002 Nissan Maxima was directly behind the Chevy Cobalt.
The driver of the F-350 failed to yield and turned in front of the Cobalt.
The F-350 struck the Cobalt in the front left front bumper area with its front bumper.
The impact caused the Cobalt to rotate and travel backward off the south side of the road.
The Cobalt then struck the ditch at the bottom of the embankment with its rear bumper, coming to an uncontrolled final rest facing north.
The F-350 rotated counterclockwise and came to a final uncontrolled rest facing northwest on Highway 411 near Martin Road.
The Nissan Maxima was struck by debris from the Ford F-350.
The driver of the Cobalt succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
The two passengers in the Cobalt and the driver of the F-350 were transported to separate hospitals for treatment.
No injuries were reported from the driver of the Nissan Maxima.
The driver of the F-350 was determined to be under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash.
The Georgia State Patrol’s Specialized Collision Reconstruction Team (SCRT) responded to the scene to assist with the investigation.
