The Georgia Department of Labor announced Thursday that Rome recorded an unemployment rate of 3.6% in March, unchanged over the previous month. A year ago, the rate was 3.2%.
“In March, Georgians from every corner of the state stepped up, joining the workforce and filling critical jobs that drive our state’s economy forward,” said Labor Commissioner Bárbara Rivera Holmes. “By working with regional partners across the state, we’re creating a globally competitive workforce — one that’s built to last and ready to lead Georgia into its next phase of prosperity.”
The labor force in Rome increased by 193 from the previous month and by 18 from the same month last year, reaching 48,420.
Rome finished the month with 46,657 employed residents, up 163 from the previous month and down 177 from the same time last year.
Rome ended March with 47,400 jobs. That number was unchanged over the month and rose by 400 over the year.
In March, initial unemployment claims in Rome increased by 110 from the previous month and by 205 from the same month a year ago, totaling 410.
