A train derailment occurred Thursday morning behind Triangle Foods in Rockmart, involving a number of empty railcars.

According to the Polk County Emergency Management Agency, there is no threat to public safety, and no hazardous materials were involved.

The cause of the derailment is currently unknown.

The incident was not initially reported through Polk County 911. Instead, the EMA received a direct call and contacted Rockmart Fire Rescue. A deputy fire chief responded to the scene and confirmed the details.

Emergency officials say there is no concern from the public safety community at this time.
