Man accused of firing shots at Calhoun Police at Buc-ee’s

-Calhoun Police Department News Release-

At around 4 a.m. Thursday, Calhoun Police Department officers responded to a domestic dispute at Buc-ee’s, located at 601 Union Grove Road.

Upon arrival, officers made contact with a male suspect. As officers attempted to place the individual into handcuffs, he fled the scene on foot.

During the pursuit, the suspect turned and fired multiple shots at the pursuing officers.

Fortunately, no officers were injured.

The suspect then carjacked a vehicle from the Buc-ee’s parking lot and fled the scene. A multi-agency response was initiated,

According to the Whitfield County Sheriff’s office, the suspect crashed on I-75, and when deputies approached, they discovered the man had fatally shot himself.

The investigation is ongoing, and no further details are being released at this time.

The Calhoun Police Department extends its thanks to all assisting agencies and is thankful that no officers or civilians were harmed during this incident.
