Two accused of burglarizing deceased man’s outbuilding

Two arrests have been made in a burglary on Old Cedartown Road on April 10.

According to an arrest warrant:

49-year-old Kevin Leon Hulsey of Lindale and 40-year-old Brittany Nicole Waits of Rome entered an outbuilding, and items were placed outside.

A plastic tote containing some items was missing.

Hulsey and Waits were seen on camera days prior to the incident.

Both are additionally charged with criminal trespass and theft by taking.

The owner of the outbuilding had passed away in February.

Inmates accused of trying to smuggle tobacco, other items into prison

Two Floyd County Prison inmates have been charged in a conspiracy to smuggle contraband into the facility.

According to the arrest warrants:

55-year-old James Herbert Emory of Skipperville, Alabama, and 41-year-old Timothy David Partnode of Cave Spring arranged to have a woman deliver the contraband to a designated location.

This was arranged via the prison’s phone system.

An investigator located and recovered the items before they could be smuggled into the prison.

The contraband included smokeless tobacco, a vape, two rolls of electrical tape, and several small plastic baggies.

Both Emory and Partnode are charged with conspiracy to commit a felony, possession of items prohibited for inmates, and use of a communications facility to commit a drug crime.

Woman charged with financial card theft

A 54-year-old Silver Creek woman was booked into the Floyd County Jail Monday on a felony warrant charging her with financial transaction card theft.

According to the warrant:

Tracy Jean Cowan took a card that had been mislaid at the West Rome Walmart on November 10 of last year.

She is also charged with theft by shoplifting and two misdemeanor counts of failure to appear in court.
