Purported gang member charged in battery at the jail

An inmate is facing charges following an incident Friday at the Floyd County Jail.

According to jail records:

21-year old Demarius Tyrese Hodges hit another inmate repeatedly about the head and torso, causing bruising and swelling.

Hodges is a purported “Eastside Killer Bloods” street gang member.

He is charged with unlawful acts of violence in a penal institution, battery, and participation in criminal street gang activity.

Hodges has been in jail since December 31 following his arrest on multiple charges, including burglary and aggravated assault.

Report: Woman failed to notice child was missing for two hours

A Coosa woman was arrested at her Mays Bridge Road home late last week on a felony count of 1st-degree cruelty to children.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

It took 42-year-old Christina Lee Harvey two hours to notice that a child she was supervising was missing, and she did not call 911 once she discovered the child was missing.

Woman charged with child, animal cruelty

A Rome woman is facing three counts of 2nd-degree cruelty to children and a misdemeanor count of cruelty to animals following her arrest on Friday.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

34-year-old Kayla Brooke Howren is accused of neglecting three children and an animal at her North Avenue residence.

Man accused of having meth at jail

A man charged with battery is facing additional charges for allegedly having drugs while at the Floyd County Jail.

According to jail records:

41-year old Corey Desmond McHenry Sr. was arrested for punching a man in the face on Chieftain Drive.

He was then found with 28 grams of methamphetamine, resulting in charges of possession of meth with the intent to distribute and possession of drugs by an inmate.

Woman charged after incident with police on Broad Street

A Marietta woman is facing charges after an encounter with Rome Police in the 300 block of Broad Street on Saturday.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

20-year old Lena Railey Erin Adams was yelling and spitting at officers while using abusive and profane language.

She also threatened one of the officers by telling him, “I’ll burn you myself.”

Adams was also in possession of an alcoholic beverage and refused to give her name to police.

She is charged with terroristic threats and acts, simple battery against a police officer, obstruction, disorderly conduct, public drunk, and being intoxicated while under the age of 21.

Woman accused of falsifying GED diploma

A 39-year old Rockmart woman was booked into the Floyd County Jail Sunday on a felony warrant charging her with false statements and writings.

According to the warrant:

Brittany Marie Ware falsified a GED diploma in order to obtain more than $5,100 from the Northwest Georgia Housing Authority.

The money was never recieved.

Man charged with criminal tresspass, criminal damage to property

A Silver Creek man is accused of entering the property of another and staying there without permission.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

25-year old John Christopher Blackwell II caused around $800 in damage to the victim’s property.

He is charged with criminal trespass and 2nd-degree criminal damage to property.
