A Rome man is facing multiple charges after police say he forged stolen checks.
According to the arrest warrants and Floyd County Jail records:
39-year old Billy Joe Chambers II took the checks and made some of them out to himself, obtaining cash.
Three were for over $1,600 and a fourth was for $400.
One check was written in the amount of $2,200.
One of the victims was an elderly man who lost over $3,500.
The incidents occurred between November 11 and November 21.
Chambers is also accused of fleeing from police on April 2, refusing commands to get out of his vehicle, and possessing methamphetamine.
He is charged with fleeing or attempting to elude, speeding, reckless driving, obstruction of law enforcement, failure to maintain a lane, driving with a suspended license, and possession of methamphetamine in connection to that incident.
