A Fire Danger Statement has been issued for Floyd County for today.

The statement also applies to Polk and Chattooga Counties.

Gordon and Bartow Counties are under a Red Flag Warning.

We are looking at relative humidity of 25 percent or less, dry vegetation, and winds of 10-18 mph with gusts up to 20-30 mph.

Any fires that develop could spread rapidly, and outdoor burning today is strongly discouraged.

On Tuesday, there were a number of grass and woods fires.

Firefighters responded to calls on Billy Pyle Road, Woods Road, Chulio Road and Mathis Road, Wilkerson Road, Old Summerville Road behind McDonald’s, Martha Berry Highway at Scenic Road, Highway 293 at the county line, and the area of 3880 Martha Berry Highway.
