Cartersville Police patrol cars get new design

PRESS RELEASE

Last night at the Cartersville City Council meeting, the Cartersville Police Department displayed its brand new 2019 Dodge Charger, with an updated design. Last year, Chief McCann enlisted the help of some exceptional talent right here in our own back yard to create a new police design.

With the safety of our officers, and the public in mind, Chief McCann contacted Valerie Veiga, (2018-2019 STAR Teacher) Department Head of Graphic Design at the Cartersville High School, who assembled a team of students to get the job done. Mrs. Veiga, along with Colbi Ballard, Hattie Thompson and other advanced students created this unique look on the newly issued marked units

Though the design may seem different, the concept is genius. Without adding additional lights, or other less reliable features that are not as effective, this team created a safer environment for the general public and our first responders. Configuring the two tone reflective striping at the rear of the vehicle in a sharp pattern immediately brings attention to the emergency vehicle. This simple, but effective addition reduces rear end crashes while our officers are stopped assisting the public.
We could not be more grateful to the Cartersville High School, Mrs.Valerie Veiga, her students and the team at New Beginnings Signs and Graphics. This is an outstanding example of a community working together!
