Man facing charges following serious wreck on South Broad Street

ROME POLICE REPORTS

A Cartersville man has been arrested following a wreck that seriously injured another man Saturday morning.

According to Rome Police reports, an officer observed a vehicle driven by 25-year old Harkirat Singh pull out of the back parking lot of a downtown restaurant and onto First Street.

The vehicle squealed its tires and accelerated to at least 40 miles per hour.

The officer followed the Audi onto Second Avenue and then Broad Street but lost the vehicle as it accelerated to an estimated 70 miles per hour.

The officer then noticed that power was out in the 400 block of South Broad Street and figured the car had crashed.

He continued on and then saw the vehicle, which had flipped onto its top.

One passenger was lying on the ground with a broken leg and severe head trauma.

A second passenger had crawled out of the vehicle and was bleeding from the head.

One other passenger was also injured.

All three and Singh were transported to Floyd Medical Center.

One of the injured men was then transported To Erlanger Medical Center.

Singh was treated and then taken to jail on charges of reckless driving, DUI, serious injury by vehicle, eluding police and driving too fast for conditions.

The investigation into the crash is being conducted by the Georgia State Patrol.
